April - National Autism Awareness Month

April 2nd is Autism Awareness Day!  There are millions of children and adults who struggle daily with the challenges of Autism.  Let's honor all of them this month and do our best to continue to educate ourselves on how to effectively teach these children. It is a tall order--one that does not yield to immediate results and often results in trial and error. Autism is on the rise and the demand for services to meet these children's needs will continue to grow.  I commend all of the awesome teachers out there who work with autistic children and are committed to their cause.  Thank You and God Bless You!

The Airplane Alphabet Book

There are some great new children's books I've been noticing lately...written by Jerry Pallotta. There's lots of information and some beautiful illustrations. Check out my newest unit that goes along with Pallotta's book, The Airplane Alphabet Book. Besides the pictures of airplanes, there are some interesting stories about the history of airplanes. Celebrate Easter!

Hope all of you enjoyed your Spring Break and I know the teachers who have a later break are really looking forward to their time off!  St. Patrick's Day is over and Easter is around the corner.  I love that we get to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  It is my favorite time to really thank God for all of the blessings he has given us but it is also a very emotional time for me to reflect on the sacrifice He made just for us.  We serve an amazing God!  Wishing you all a very blessed Easter.

Happy Spring Break!

Yeah for Spring Break!  This is a time when teachers deserve a much needed week off so they can refresh their minds and bodies to prepare for the last three months of school. Wow! Only three more months to go. It seems this year has gone by so fast and there is still so much to do to make sure the kids are prepared for the next year.  But unitl then, enjoy your wonderful week off!

Share the Love

Valentine's Day is such a wonderful opportunity to show others we care and love them.  This week in Sunday school we are presenting a project called "Share the Love"!  The students will come up with  ideas on how to present random acts of kindness to others in need of encouragement such as helping a sick neighbor or relative, visiting a nursing home and take handmade cards or going to a children's hospital and read stories to the sick children.  After they complete the project they will sit down with their parents and journal this experience about how it made them feel.  We will them share the stories with our friends. I love this idea and think you could incorporate this into the classroom as well. What better way to show God's love through these acts of kindness.
